Althoug guidelines to submitting specific proposals,, can be found on the relevant websites of funding bodies, you still have to write the proposal - the very best proposal possible. This workshop is designed to help young researchers (late PhD, early postdocs) prepare and write project proposals to apply for fellowship funding to continue their career as independent scientists. We deal with pre-planning, requirements and eligibility for different kinds of funding. As we move on to writing we consider content and general structuring of a proposal and how to address essential points, such as aims, hypotheses and gaps, feasibility, potential pitfalls, alternative plans, and particularly how to stress innovation, significance and future impacts; i. e. how to sell your science and yourself as an outstanding candidate. Participants are encouraged to bring along any of their own texts to work on. They also put thogether their own "mini" application by integrating each essential element as we go along, or work on an existing text, and using group interaction and feedback, we strive to transform this into effective text suitable for an application for funding. Hands-on participation, learning-by-doing, feedback and interactive discussion are essential elements of the workshop.
